Aaaaaand we locked Praag!

Yep, 5 long hours of nothing but zerg on zerg action with plenty of sniping from smaller partisan forces of 6 and 12 taking on much larger forces in the backstreets and alleyways of Praag, all for the victory over each other and the slating of bloodlust – not that it did any good.

The FPS lag was not bad, however as the night progressed and numbers increased to 200+ per side in the space of <100 ingame ft, some noticable game effects came into play along with high latency.  The most noticeable of these was the reduction of the draw distance, especially in areas which funneled players into two massive zerging fronts.   The draw distance at one point was so low, it was <15ft radius that it just wouldn’t show any other player, giving heals an LoS / range error if they happened to be beyond the draw distance.

Also rather fun thinking an area is clear, walking forward and loading 60-70 Order.  Its also intresting to learn that 9 out of 10 times – retreat is death.  Too many times we did witness the Destro / Order zerg turn tail and run to just get romped all over by the opposing faction.  I’d naturally say to stand and fight, a honourable perhaps fruitless death with zero penalty is a small price to pay, but it doesn’t really help with the zone capture that everyone was raving about – then again nor does dying en masse while running like little girls.

The last hour of Praag was intresting to say the least, with random groups breaking of and hitting PQs hard while the main zerg remained in the lake pushing and being pushed between the main warcamps.  Finally at ~1am Praag was locked and everyone rushed to Reikland to start all over again.

With all the new transfers to Darklands, I hope that everyone will think “Damn last night was fun, lets see if its’ on again” and will merrily romp out into the lake and instigate something again.
