I’ve been given a job at a bakery meaning 3am wakeup and daytime snoozing, which leaves little time for WAR and anything else.
I haven’t been able to login for yonks because of thins, sorry to those who came here expecting a new post but didn’t find any.
I don’t know when I’ll be able to start blogging again, but I don’t think it will be anytime soon unfortunately.
Stay sharp and remember, stunties don’t bounce when you throw them.
Did em both, got 1 item out of the 15 or so to drop was of any use to our group.
Beats me over the head with a phonebooth on why Mythic just didn’t use PQ bags or tokens, really. Hell, even the old sets which were taken out of the game were better than the damn sets you get from the IC instances, and probably easier obtain too, considering I still have 4 tokens in my inventory.
I mean, why would you get rid of the items, they were awesome with their triple talisman slots. Hell even if they didn’t actually have stats but just the talisman slots they would be better than half the stuff you get from instances.
Sigh @ Mythic.
Don’t you just love to hate them. “This game is failing!” “WoW is better, WotLK is coming and WAR will die!” “Sorcss make this game suck! I’m taking my eleven million accounts and unsubbing!”
Seriously, what is with all the doomsayers who play for 30 minutes, make a incoherent forum post about how the game sucks which generally ends up being a tldr – ranting about how this game should be like that other game aka ‘IN WOW THIS DOES THIS AND THIS NOT THIS UR GAEM SUX’.
I read this rather interesting post here about how WoW was the death of the MMO genre. Sure, call me hypocritical, but what is in this post really rings true. Think about it, almost all the new MMO releases have been an adaption of the same old concept, granted this concept started waaaaay back in EQ and beyond – WoW just dumbed it down, alot.
Lets reflect a little, WAR is has in recent months brought a bit of fresh air into now a monopolised genre, and even then unfortunately its not much. Its brought innovations which almost iconically has been assimilated into WoW.
I’m willing to wager that 1.1 will see so many improvements it will typically leave Blizzard in the dust scrabbling to rip it off *coughachievementscough*.
Does anyone else find that their realm seems more interested in backcapping and ghosting BFOs and Keeps?
We spent a better half of this evening chasing Order from zone to zone to zone to zone. They had similar numbers to us, 10-12+ against our 10, and after a fight would just sod off to another zone. Theyd even forget their precious 500 RPs from the BFOs.
This isn’t WAR. We didn’t get this game to run away like little girls from each other. We came here to bash stunties, stab humies and kill pointy ears. (Its different if you happen to be Order, but I’z a greenskin!) Hell, it has devolved to the point where people would rather jump off a cliff and suffer a PVE death than actually fight to the death, no matter how futile the fight.
I mean, where is the fun in buying a game that advertises and is designed around heavy, large-scale open field combat. Not pveing for renown. It kind of disappoints me that people view renown as a grind rather than an achievement. I mean, we see people complain about open with lines such as ‘I’d rather spend 30 minutes capping a zone for 4k renown than rvring for 1rp a kill’
One thing I really like about that line, is it is a complete and total load. I’m RR46, and I get more renown from open rvring, hell you can get 30k easily in an hour or two, and thats not just with heal renown. Forget heal renown when you can get a few hundred renown a kill, seriously.
Its amazing how much fun that you can have by getting the same old faces with you every night to do a bit of actually playing the game. Hell, even grabbing a few mates and tagging along with the zerg in the hot zerg on zerg action can end up with a great WAR night.
If only cross realm channels existed, I think my most used phrase would be “Drink a cup of Cement and harden the fuck up.”
Don’t really address anything
.
A majority of issues with skills required bug fixes, instead got something which they didn’t really need. Sure theres some really nice things there, such as the Bright Wizards ability ‘Playing with Fire’ can no longer crit, but theres also the bad (Not having Wards for appropriate encounters such as Dungeons, Fortresses, Cities, Kings will now lower your DPS done; which is silly considering how FUBAR all the current loot tables are for set items.)
Sure the assorted damage increases are nice, but a few of the skill changes aren’t everyones cup of tea. Some skills didn’t really require a tweakm but recieved one anyway.
Either way, it is nice to see Mythic is trying their best to make WAR even more awesome.
How cool are we!
So as I said last night, with Destro being pushed back into our fortress and then having the server crash (it was really an inside job, we had someone pull the plug :p) the zones broke.
The Maw has now been contested for 24 hours, though it is impossible to actually do any damage to it, the Wastes are locked to Order with all Order owned Objectives and Keeps, Praag when you walk in there is listed as contested but it is actually locked on the map to Order with BFOs and Keeps having guards that are unattackable but just attack anyone no worries.
Darklands; world first in WAR game breakage. Kind of sad too since the RvRs been restricted to Dragonwake which has seen so much daily action and ghosting it shouldn’t be green, but rather muddy and goreslick. TM is just an ugly zone to fight in, being as open and multi-levelled as it is, though it does allow for prime ambushes (We managed to hide a full warband at Thagrim’s Wall BFO in the gatehouse to ambush Order who came to recap. This was with PUGs too.)
Hopefully they’ll restart the server tonight or tomorrow to fix it and allow RvR to have some meaning in Praag, though its already been 24 hours, I’m not counting chickens yet.
So today, after pushing Order back to Reikland after locking Praag, Order began to rally and counter attack this afternoon. They managed to absolutely trump our feat of locking a zone of last night to pushing us all the way back to our Fortress in 4 hours. Impressive, (un)fortunately for us, the server crashed and then reset and bugged all zones from Chaos Wastes to Praag.
What was revealed however from this is the collective stupidity of Destruction, not to rag on anyone or anything. It is to their credit to keep riding out into the Order and feed meat to the grinder, but the sense of what they were doing was futile probablyh didn’t sink in, helping Order gain the zone. Sure I go on about Destro not fighting, but when they’re just trickling in ones and twos to a crumbling front, or when there isn’t even a front – it definately does help zone control for Order.
On a side note, it seemed like they implemented a stealth change to zone control, since they mangaged to lock down Chaos Wastes in <1 hour. Though they were walking all over the collective destro zerg through their superior organised zerging, it didn’t feel right.
Still 120+ organised zerglings is an impressive feat.
Aaaaaand we locked Praag!
Yep, 5 long hours of nothing but zerg on zerg action with plenty of sniping from smaller partisan forces of 6 and 12 taking on much larger forces in the backstreets and alleyways of Praag, all for the victory over each other and the slating of bloodlust – not that it did any good.
The FPS lag was not bad, however as the night progressed and numbers increased to 200+ per side in the space of <100 ingame ft, some noticable game effects came into play along with high latency. The most noticeable of these was the reduction of the draw distance, especially in areas which funneled players into two massive zerging fronts. The draw distance at one point was so low, it was <15ft radius that it just wouldn’t show any other player, giving heals an LoS / range error if they happened to be beyond the draw distance.
Also rather fun thinking an area is clear, walking forward and loading 60-70 Order. Its also intresting to learn that 9 out of 10 times – retreat is death. Too many times we did witness the Destro / Order zerg turn tail and run to just get romped all over by the opposing faction. I’d naturally say to stand and fight, a honourable perhaps fruitless death with zero penalty is a small price to pay, but it doesn’t really help with the zone capture that everyone was raving about – then again nor does dying en masse while running like little girls.
The last hour of Praag was intresting to say the least, with random groups breaking of and hitting PQs hard while the main zerg remained in the lake pushing and being pushed between the main warcamps. Finally at ~1am Praag was locked and everyone rushed to Reikland to start all over again.
With all the new transfers to Darklands, I hope that everyone will think “Damn last night was fun, lets see if its’ on again” and will merrily romp out into the lake and instigate something again.
Went and did Lost Vale today. Managed to get the first two bosses down Asahaxak or something and Malgor Greathorn were the first two bosses of the West wing.
Intresting instance, not as hard as Bilerot, but the boss fights are highly challenging. The trash would be filed under more ‘annoying’ than actually difficult. The first boss was substantially harder than the second boss, due to the difference in the encounters; both of which I’ll detail in further in.
The trash pulls in LV consist of lots of mobs, normally 2+, generally ~3-4. Off the top of my head the worst trash mobs were Pleasuresomethings which had a range attack and Shamans which heal. The melee mobs are pretty weak.
The first boss; some lizard beginning with A, was probably the hardest encounter of the night. There were eggs in the pond in which she sits, and if you destroy one it enrages her. She gains an enchantment which bolsters her defences by a large chunk, so it is worth using shatter enchantment to make the encounter easier. At ~50% she hatches all the eggs and spawn a bunch of little lizards which hurt alot, but are non champions. For us we had two sorcs pop their t4 with stuns and then a DoK pop theirs. Mopped them up no worries.
At 25% she spawns another lizard which is identical to herself, however if you burn her hard enough this lizard doesn’t spawn, theres like a 15/20 second window to do so.
She dropped a Darkpromise cape, 30 wounds 30 toughness + resists and an Orc Choppa, 1h which had some insane stats, eg + to physical damage, toughness, initiative, strength and a socket.
The second boss is alot easier, though he is untauntable and un detauntable, meaning its really a control of aggro will win the fight. There are mists on the ground that seem to do nothing apart from give the tank instant aggro, though I would advise them only being used in place of a taunt. Really its just a tank and spank encounter. Dropped a Darkpromise Staff for Sorcs, 84/84 Toughness & Int, plus a hot Magus staff, 40 Willpower, 17 Initiative, 54 int, 6% crit and two socket slots.
Called it after that, since it was getting late. 5d lockout too.
WAR was designed around bashing stunties, stabbin’ pointy ears and stompin’ humies. So why does destro, along with many Order prefer to PvE for renown rather than actually stand and fight?
The reason why I say this, is tonight once of the new Order guilds made of rerolls from Destruction from one of the ‘top’ guilds attacked a keep, and left after 10 minutes due to the fact they couldnt get the ram down, even though they had a numerical advantage, not to mention a bunch of people on vent/ts > a band of pubs. Instead they decided to bugger off, not even hit another zone like the usually do and went and did scenarios to ‘grind renown.’
Heres another intresting thing, people view renown ranks as a ‘grind’. It is supposed to be an achievement or reward, not something you grind because it makes you good having high RR. It has lead to a lack of fisticuffs in the field and more a trading of BFOs and keeps. Hell, we even had people comment saying ‘Don’t fight Order you stupid, we get better / faster renown from just capping.’ Its kind of scary and sad that people would rather do this than actually grow some cahoonies and go in.
In other news, Mythic’s loot system sucks arse – Bloodwrought dropped 3 BO boots, SH, BO & Zealot helm + belt, when we didn’t even have a zealot / SH in the group, and the BO already had all the pieces.
